Laser Therapy

Exciting News!! I am now offering Laser Therapy to my patients!

This new technology received FDA approval in the USA in 2006. It is becoming mainstream in physical rehabilitation of people following surgery or injury, and is now available to our animal companions.

Therapeutic Lasers and Their Application in Veterinary Medicine:
Lasers are useful in treating many conditions we see frequently in our companion animals.

The acronym “laser” stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Lasers can be used for a multitude of purposes depending on the amount of amplification (power), focus, and wavelength of light. For our purposes in treating pets, we use a Class IV laser of 980 nm wavelength with a power level up to 6 Watts to deliver energy deeply in to the tissues. This energy relieves pain, reduces swelling, increases blood flow, accelerates healing, and thus aids in the treatment of many disease conditions we see frequently in our patients.

The following list is a list of conditions that benefit from treatment with class IV laser therapy:

1) Degenerative joint disease /Arthritis
2) Chronic pain
3) Acute pain or injury (strain, sprain)
4) Hip dysplasia
5) Degenerative disc disease
6) Lick granuloma
7) Acute and Chronic otitis
8) “Hot-Spots” or moist dermatitis
9) Wound healing
10) Gingivitis and stomatitis
11) Post surgery
12) Rehabilitation after injury
13) Needle-free acupuncture
14)Neuropathy

There are many other applications for the use of class IV therapeutic laser in veterinary medicine, and I am happy to be able to offer this service in the comfort of your home!
